CARAVAN HEADING TOWARDS THE UNITED STATES

The people are marching, the flags are waving, and the southern border of the United States is at risk of an invasion. It is currently estimated that at least 6,900 immigrants from Honduras and other surrounding countries, who are currently in Mexico, have been traveling the 3,500-mile march attempting to enter into the United States illegally.

PURPOSE- So, what exactly is the purpose of this caravan and what do they want? Who exactly is behind this invasion, and yes, it is an invasion. Let’s answer these questions to get a better understanding of what is happening.

The purpose should be political asylum. In case you don’t know what political asylum is, political asylum refers to the protection given to political refugees from arrest by a foreign jurisdiction. A nation or embassy that affords such protection is also called asylum. Asylum is not the same as refuge. In case of asylum the asylum-seeker (or asylee) seeks his or her status after arriving in what is hoped will be the welcoming country, whereas a refugee is given that status before traveling to the final destination.

ISSUE: The issue here is that everyone who is in this caravan, whom is being interviewed by news networks, make no mention of political asylum. What they are saying is they want jobs and education for their children. Whatever country they are from is obviously poor and they are seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

CIRCUMSTANCE- So, what is the problem with this? Shouldn’t we want people to prosper and achieve dreams that aren’t afforded to them otherwise? Wouldn’t Jesus want us to help these people out? The answer, yes, we should and do want people to be prosperous. We do want people who are in bad situations to better themselves and their families. We are willing to help people such as the ones marching in this caravan as long as they go through the proper channels that are put into place for them to come here legally. What they are doing instead is trying to illegally enter our country and force this nation to take them in on their own terms. That is something Jesus wouldn’t want. One thing that I know and love about God is that He is a God of order. Yes, He wants us to give to the needy, feed the hungry, and help those in need. God also doesn’t want us to break the law to do so.

REALITY- The United States is the most giving country in the world and this nation takes in more immigrants than any other country. Our welfare system is flooded with illegal immigrants and that is a problem. There are protocols put in place for immigrants to enter legally. They have to fill out paperwork, be vetted, and approved to enter this wonderful country. This caravan seems to feel like they are above our rules and plan to march right on in, and that is unacceptable. This is one big security risk and one large financial bill that we don’t need to take on. We don’t know who these people are. Sure, some are good people. Unfortunately, some are also bad. We have an influx of gang members, murderers, sex traffickers, rapists, etc. trying to enter illegally. It’s just reality. In addition, if they do enter, we as hard-working citizens have to in one way or another pay for them to be here. They will be put on welfare or they will be taking jobs away from citizens of this country. Taxes will go up, crime rate goes up, poverty also increases. Also, if they just march right on in there will be many more caravans attempting the same invasion.

AGENDA- So, who exactly is behind this. I personally don’t think this caravan is just a coincidence. Midterm elections are almost two weeks away. The Democrats are desperate to take over the Senate and the House. They have been encouraging to open our boarders to everyone and have also been known to previously fund caravans such as this one. This caravan somehow has clothing, food, water, and money. Where is all of that coming from? Yes, the left.

As a pastor and as a person who loves and tries to help people, this whole situation does leave me on sort of a seesaw. My natural instinct is to help those who need it, regardless if everything I have written up to this point may imply otherwise. At the same time there is a need to preserve our nation and our citizens.

CONCLUSION- So, what do we do? What do I do as a Christian? Pray! Prayer is my automatic first move in any situation. I pray that the Lord will move in a mighty way in this situation. I pray that He will direct President Trump in the correct way to overcome this whole ordeal. I also pray that President Trump will allow himself to be moved by God. I pray against any plan and attempts that Satan and any politician, right or left, who is involved in this ordeal may have. I pray for safety over those marching in the caravan and I pray that the name of Jesus Christ be exalted and honored in this situation.
